A great amount of people have been fleeing their country to come to Greece, whether to stay here or go to another European country such as Germany, Sweden, etc. Our town, Ierapetra, has also lots of refugees and they keep coming. Those people come with nothing in their hands, in fact they come in terrible conditions, so they need help to get successfully integrated in our town.
As a community we have to support and understand the situation of the refugees. Firstly we should teach them our language and generally provide them with education. We should also give them jobs, money and also a home until they can support themselves on their own. Another important action as a community is to send doctors to check their health. Emotional support is very important and it cannot be neglected too.
As a school we can gather food, clothing, and money, if needed, and give it to the refugees. Among the refugees there are children as well, so when they come to our school as students, we should develop relationships with them and make them feel welcome.
